The IP-S3 is Topcon’s latest mobile mapping system. The IP-S3 is smaller, lighter and easy to use but still offers high accuracy, high density and point clouds combined with high resolution panoramas.

Combining Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), GNSS receiver (GPS and GLONASS) and a vehicle odometer the IP-S3 is a precise positioning system that can work in any environment.

The IP-S3 captures the environment through a rotating LiDAR Senor which works at a rate of 700,000 pulses per second. Each rotation consists of 32 internal lasers which capture the full 360 degree surroundings. Each laser is positioned at a slightly different angle to ensure that all areas are captured. This positioning reduces the potential for gaps within the point cloud that can arise from obstacles and dead angles to minimise potential gaps in the point cloud. In addition to this the IP-S3 has a six lens digital camera which provides full 360 degree high resolution spherical images for quick and easy feature recognition.
